Its name? “This is Paradise,” of course – thestar.com

Unless junkies, roaches, rats and the enduring stink of nearby abattoirs were really your thing, the intersection of Queen St. W. and Spadina Ave. in the ’80s would have been the farthest thing from paradise your mind could conjure. For a committed community of artists, though, the neighbourhood, centred on the twin poles of the Cameron House and The Rivoli, was their world, lived and conceived their way. An exhibition that excavates this wildly productive portion of Toronto art history opens at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art Saturday. Its name? “This is Paradise,” of course. (At MOCCA, 952 Queen St. W., from June 25 to Aug. 21)
